Can I access the SLES 10.x SDK from a Yast 'install source' rather than ISO images?
What I'm really after is Subversion, but I want to acquire and install it in the 'approved way' for Suse. The SDK package list suggests that the SVN version is, unfortunately, a little older. NFS between SLES 11 and SLES 10
Hi, I am trying to set up a 'shared' folder on a SLES 10 sp3 with OES2 sp3. In Yast I set up the NFS server with the IP address and the name of the shared folder. On the SLES 11sp1 server I used Yast to set up the NFS client. When I save the config I get a message that the server could not mount the NFS entries from /etc/fstab. The fstab file only shows the local disks. I am logged in the both servers as 'root' Any help will be appreciated. Regards John mmmh, NFS works on EXT3 (EXT2) files systems but not on an NSS volumes, so the question now is how...
SLES 10 versus SLES 9
Other than the Xen integration and Apparmor whats the advantge of SLES 10 over SLES 9. I haven't been able to find any performance numbers to indicate a perfromance boost. I'm questioning becuase I will be building a new Groupwise 7 SP1 server which is now supported on SLES 10. However, I have licenses for OES linux too. I don't need all the OES services like NSS, iPrint and stuff but our admins do like conencting to the servers with NCP and using NRM. So does SLES 10 gives us somthing more than the ease of administration we get from OES linux. This server will be a...
SLES 10 vs. SLES 9
Hey Guys, Do not know if this is the right spot for posting this? Any one knows or has done any activity on performance of SLES 10 compared to SLES 9, taking everything else equal in the two system? My performance is really really really slow in SLES 10 operations and can not figure out why. Thanks, Michael -- bionic_man ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Can you give us more information? Exactly what is slower? What services/programs are running? How many people are on the servers? NSS? OES2? GroupWise, File and print? ...
SLES 9 or SLES 10 with OES Linux
Anyone recommend what upgrade pathe we should take for OES - Linux, we plan on upgrading from Netware 5. Our test environment is using SLES 9. With the release of SLES 10, I'm wondering whether we should jump to this rather than v9? Thank you. Upgrade form SLES 10 to SLES 11
It there a method to upgrade or is this always a complete new install? Thanks -jim -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 When you put in the SLES 11 media one of the 'install' options is to Upgrade. With that said I'd make sure I had a valid backup before doing this. Personally, because I do not need to do otherwise, I always do fresh installs (even for SPs). It's a luxury I will not always enjoy but for now in order to duplicate customer environments properly I try to keep my systems are free from quirks as possible so I do fresh installs (includin...

Upgrade GW 7 from SLES 9 to SLES 10

Just make sure you have a complete backup of your GW system first. Then prepared to poss...
upgrade from sles 9 to sles 10 breaks something
OK this is oes 1 to oes 2, but since it's a login script issue I'm not sure whether to post here or in the sles forum. We had our accouting system on oes1, when user's logged in they got a menu which was invoked by xmenu.sh in /etc/profile.d server1:/etc/profile.d # cat xmenu.sh export PATH=/sdb/sentai/scripts:$PATH [ `id -gn` = 'trax' ] && exec /usr/local/bin/menu.sh one of the menu choices let them escape to the os and get a bash prompt. This same script on oes2 just gives them a blinking cursor, no bash prompt. However, if I login interac...
FreeRADIUS and eDire on SLES 10 vs SLES 9
Hi, I've been running FreeRADIUS on SLES 9 for about a year now with no problems. It authenticates against eDirectory via LDAP. Works great. But last week, I bought a new server to use for FreeRADIUS and installed SLES 10 sp1 on it. I copied over the entire raddb directory from the SLES 9 server and fired up radiusd. It starts fine, but when I send in a request, it gives the error about being unable to read the Universal Password (there are a couple of posts in this forum about it) when it looks the user up. I've tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of SLES 10, an...
A few postfix gotchas when upgrading from SLES 9 to SLES 10
Hello I recently upgraded a server with multiple instances of Postfix from SLES 9 to SLES 10. This caused me a number of problems as the upgrade clobbers some of the files I had customised. If you upgrade from SLES 9 to SLES 10 and have multiple instances of Postfix you should double-check the following .... 1) Master.cf is altered – this change needs to be reproduced on all Postfix instances and then listen ports/IP's amended in that file where appropriate, otherwise you may experience numerous log warnings and some delivery delays. 2) Dynamicmaps.cf needs to be ...
SLES 10 and non-sles XEN vm's
Hi, I installed SLES 10, ran all the updates, and went into Yast->Xen to create a VM. FreeRADIUS, LDAP and eDir on SLES 10 vs SLES 9
Well, nobody said No, so I'll post anyway. Is there a difference in the config files between the FreeRADIUS 1.0.5 in SLES 9 and FreeRADIUS 1.1.0 in SLES 10 SP 1? I've got two SLES 9 boxes running FreeRADIUS and authenticating against eDirectory via LDAP. They work fine. I copied the /etc/raddb directory from a SLES 9 box to a new SLES 10 box, and radiusd starts fine, and can talk to the LDAP server. But when I use ntradping to test it, the FreeRADIUS screen shows an error in the ldap realm: > rlm_ldap: performing search in ou=Waleska,o=EagleNet, with filter > ...
